EDWARD JENNER

The smallpox vaccination was first discovered by Edward Jenner. He found that people who caught cowpox didn’t catch smallpox. He tested a boy named James Phipps. Smallpox was extinct by 1979

GREGOR MENDEL

Mendel is famous for his work in genetics. He worked on genetics using peas for eight years but the govt. rejected his work. Hugo de Vires and Carl Correns found Mendel’s “Experiment on Plant Hybridization” in 1990 and accepted his work.

WILHELM CONRAD RONTGEN

During experiments with electric currents passed through a vacuum tube, Wilhelm Conrad Rontgen noted that a nearly fluorescent screen glowed. When the current was switched off, the glowing stopped. He attributed this effect to previously unknown rays which, X being the symbol for an unknown quantity, he called X-rays
